Did I tell you? Probably not...
-My new gym finally, finally opened and everyone was biting at the bit to get into it because it's been crowded yesterday when it opened and today. Luckily they have a four story garage (I parked on the fourth floor today and it offers a pretty amazing view of the skyline). It's shiny, new, and I love the personal tvs. Today I watched "Cash Cab" on the treadmill.

I also had my intro session with my new trainer. I needed to schedule my training sessions, and had to approach a trainer to do it, so I eyeballed them while they milled around the first day. I totally chose mine based on her down-to-earth appearance and she appeared to have the smallest ratio of hair product: hair. I think I chose correctly. She's super nice and has a gentle, non-judgmental manner, which I love because I need that kind of nurturing when it comes to strength building. So we did the measurements etc tonight and she figured out where my starting levels are. Bottom line: my arms are weak, people! And my balance could be better, too. And I intend to lose some inches. So, I'm going to have my next session with her on Thursday and I expect it to hurt a little.

-We painted one of our bathrooms. It's a nice light blue-gray and I love it. I did the roller and Todd did the edges and the prep and clean up. His part was much tougher, but we both get to enjoy the pay off.

- We tried to take HF/Hef to the vet last Saturday. Key word: TRIED. Dude was NOT going to be coaxed into his carrier. We tried about three times and it was chaotic and kitty was stressed. Todd ended up getting his forearms scratched to hell and then Hef just ran away and hid under the bed. Vet for another time. We read up a little and I guess the key is to desensitize him: leave it out, leave the door open, even put his food into there. Anyone else got any good ideas for me?

-16 more days left to school (I'm not counting the last day since the kids are like there an hour and everyone gets let out early).

how did you get him home from the shelter?

yeah, have that carrier out in the room for about a week. put it in a place he likes to hang out. you might want to put a towel or blanket out for him to sleep on for a few days and then put that in the carrier when you leave it out so it smells like him. even better if it can be an old shirt of yours that you don't care about anymore. wear it for a few days, then let him sleep on it, then put it in the carrier. if it smells like one of you and then him, too, it'll be heaven for kitty. you can also see about getting a tranquilizer from the vet to give him on the morning of the appointment. and clip his claws the day before. if push comes to shove, wear a long-sleeved shirt, throw a blanket over him and tilt the carrier up on its end so you can just drop him in from the top. he'll go.

They did put him in the carrier on the way home from the shelter, but we waited for like half an hour, so we finally figured out what took so long.

Thanks for the tips! We also got the suggestion to get a soft-sided carrier, which may be easier to maneauver him into.
